On the Alexanderplatz.  I am struck by the way in which East Berlin architecture is like a Communist Las Vegas.  The buildings are huge and concrete, aren’t really on a human scale, and yet are built for the masses.  Between the buildings, there are vast, paved, mostly empty canyons.
