For me. I mean, you do whatever makes you feel superior. But inevitably, every time I waste precious morning minutes firing up the kettle to brew my Dean & Deluca grounds in the Bodum with the Swedish gold filter and stirring in just the right mix of agave nectar and soy milk, I’m in such a rush to make up the time that I forget the goddamn sippy cup on the counter anyway. Then I have to drink the office brew (Peet’s, but always tastes two weeks old for some reason) or wait in the ever-regenerating line out the door of the Peet’s in my office building. Where it takes another twenty minutes out of my workday crafting the perfect blend of soymilk and turbinado sugar to complement yet not overshadow my two-shot Americano.
So you know, I will continue to purchase morning coffee by the cup from someone who is in the business of providing such services faster, better-tasting and more efficiently than I. (And in a city such as this, delicious coffee abundantly available is a point of pride.) Also, at-home batches frequently come out to more than I can possibly consume alone, which results in waste. Buying only as much coffee as I need is in keeping with my general philosophy of same, and the cost is partly offset by reducing the aforementioned waste. Also, waste is further mitigated by rocking a reusable coffee sleeve which frankly makes me happy to look at in the morning.
Happy me equals less angry self-indulgent overprivileged ranting on Tumblr.
