To my earlier point, even if San Francisco can only loosely be applied as a microcosm for the rest of the state, voting in connection with Prop 8 broke down across different lines than the usual liberal/conservative divide. If you know San Francisco neighborhoods like a native, you know exactly what you’re looking at here. It’s not about blame, it’s about creating mutual understanding where clearly there is a dearth.
