I’m putting this here instead of being cripplingly nervous about tomorrow. I can’t help but feel that a generation or two of deprioritizing real education, critical thinking skills, mass transit, interaction with public space, personal savings and wholesome foods, and incentivizing conspicuous consumption, insidious racism, disregard for the underclass, agribusiness, flagrant violations of civil rights, and shortsighted policymaking has turned this America into a country I’m very on the verge of not wanting to be identified with. Obama’s America is one I want to be part of; a society that learns from mistakes and takes cogent restorative approaches.
